Yehudit Hendel |
Yehudit Hendel was born into a rabbinic family in Warsaw, Poland, and immigrated to Haifa as a child in 1930. She currently resides in Tel Aviv. A well-known author, Hendel has published six novels, four collections of short stories and a book of essays. Many of her works have been adapted for stage, screen, radio and TV; her novels and stories have been translated into many languages. Hendel has received several literary prizes, including the Jerusalem Prize, the Bialik Prize (1996), and the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement (2003).
