Rami Saari

Rami Saari (b. 1963, Petah Tikva, Israel) is a poet, translator and linguist. He studied Semitic and Uralic Linguistics at the Universities of Helsinki, Budapest and Jerusalem and received his PhD in Linguistics in 2003. Saari has written seven books and has translated 35 books from Albanian, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Portuguese and Spanish. Since 2002, Saari has been the national editor of the Israeli pages of the poetry web-site, poetryinternational.org. In 1996 and 2003 He has been awarded the Prime Minister`s Prize for Literature twice (1996, 2003), and the Tchernikhovsky Prize for his translations (2006).
