Aryeh Sivan

Aryeh Sivan was born in Tel Aviv in 1929. He fought in Israel`s 1948 War of Independence as a member of the elite Palmach unit. Sivan studied Hebrew language and literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and has worked as a high school teacher. He has published 14 collections of poetry and a novel. Sivan has received several awards, including the Brenner Prize (1989) and the Bialik Prize (1998). His poetry has been translated into 17 languages.
