Yossi Abolafia |
| Yossi Abolafia, writer and illustrator of children`s books as well as cartoonist, was born in Tiberias in 1944. He has worked as a director, scriptwriter, and animator for Israel TV, Canadian TV, the Canadian Film Service, and independently in New York. He created a satirical comic strip for the daily newspaper, Maariv, and has been head of the Animation Unit at the Bezalel Academy of Art, where he is a senior lecturer. Abolafia has written ten books for children (three of them co-authored with Ephraim Sidon) and illustrated some 140 books in Israel and the US. He has been awarded the Andersen Citation for Illustration twice, the Ben-Zvi Prize twice, and the Nahum Gutman Prize for Illustration (1993). |
