Meir Agassi

Meir Agassi (1947-1998) was born at Kibbutz Ramat Hakovesh, Israel. He was a painter, critic, editor, poet and prose writer. Agassi began studying drawing at age 14. During his military service, he served in the IDF theater and radio station. Later, he studied art at the Camden Arts Center in London.
Agassi published his first story in 1968 and held his first one-man exhibition in Tel Aviv in 1971. He was editor of an art and culture magazine and co-editor of Monitin, a popular weekly magazine. In 1983, Agassi settled in Bristol, England. He collected old books, postcards and documents, and exhibited them, along with photographs, drawings and imaginary characters in the "Meir Agassi Museum" he opened in his Bristol home.
