Tamar Bergman

Tamar Bergman was born in Tel Aviv in 1939. As a child, she lived on a kibbutz, and later moved to Jerusalem with her family. After completing her BA in English and French at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she was awarded a scholarship to the Sorbonne in Paris, where she studied modern French literature. She has written numerous radio scripts for children, as well as 15 books for young readers and one biographical novel. Along the Tracks was named a "Notable Children`s Trade Book" by the US Children`s Book Council and was included in the 1991 Bulletin Blue Ribbon list. Bergman has won several awards, including the Ze’ev Prize twice (1989, 2000).
