Esther Ettinger

Esther Ettinger was born in Jerusalem in 1941 and still lives there today. She studied Hebrew literature, Jewish history and library science. She works as a librarian at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and as a radio program editor. Ettinger began publishing poetry in 1980. She was awarded the Newman Prize (1980) for her first book of poetry, and has since received the Prime Minister`s Prize twice (1991, 2001), the Jerusalem Prize for Poetry (2003), the Yehuda Amichai Prize for Poetry (2005) and the President`s Prize (2006).
