Admiel Kosman

Admiel Kosman was born in 1957 in Haifa to a religious family. He studied graphic arts and pottery at Bezalel Art Academy and graduated with a PhD from the Talmud Department of Bar Ilan University, where he also taught. At present, Kosman is a professor of Religious and Jewish Studies at Potsdam University, Berlin, and the academic director of the Abraham Geiger rabbinical seminary. His poems and columns appear regularly in the Friday literary supplement of Israel’s leading newspaper, Haaretz. He has been awarded the Bernstein Prize (1990) and the Brenner Prize (1998).
