Roni Gelbfish

Roni Gelbfish was born in Kibbutz Bror Chail in the Negev in 1969. After completing her military service, she worked in various jobs: as sound technician, poultry farmer, machine operator in a factory, computer programmer, seasonal cherry picker, bookseller, and more. Later, she became a news reporter and then feature journalist, working at many of Israel’s prominent newspapers and news websites. At present she leads writing workshops and works as a translator.

Gelbfish received the Ramat Gan Prize (2010) for her debut novel, A Dirty Little Story, and the DafDaf, Ha-Pinkas and Golden Griffin awards (2015) for Lake of Shadows, her y/a fantasy novel. In 2016, Lake of Shadows was awarded the Geffen Prize for the best fantasy book.
