Gilad Shalit

Gilad Shalit, a young armored corps soldier, was born in 1986 in Naharya and raised in Mitzpe Hila in the Western Galilee. He was called up for his compulsory military service in July 2005. On 25 June 2006, he was abducted by the Hamas organization and held in the Gaza Strip. Gilad returned home on 18 October, 2011, after almost five and a half years in captivity.
