Avner Shats

Avner Shats was born in Kiryat Yam, Israel, in 1959. He now lives in Haifa where he works for a shipping company. He has published a novel, two collections of short stories and a book for children. He has also written literary reviews for Haaretz and Yedioth Ahronoth, as well as for Animal Review, a zine edited by Nell Zink. Shats' first published story, Figs, won the Haaretz Short Story Competition in 1989, and in 1998 he was awarded the Peter Schweipert Prize for Young Writers.
