Evening of the Literary Translators’ Residency

The Israeli Institute for Hebrew Literature In collaboration with Mifal HaPais Council for the Culture and Arts Cordially invites you to a special event of the Literary Translators’ Residency

Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 19:30

Keshet Eilon, Kibbutz Eilon, Western Galilee

Join us for a festive evening – an intimate gathering where we’ll meet the participants of the Israeli Institute for Hebrew Literature’s Translators’ Residency: literary translators working from Hebrew into English, German, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Czech, Chinese, and French.

Together with the audience, we’ll explore the secrets of translation:

Why translate from Hebrew?

What happens when there’s no equivalent word in the target language?

Which is harder to translate – poetry, slang, or humor?

And is a translator ever allowed to “betray” the original text?

Free admission – to register and for details about organized transportation from Tel Aviv and/or Nahariya: office@ithl.org.il
