Hebrew Literature at the New Delhi International Book Fair

Authors Yaara Shehori and Iris Argaman participated in the New Delhi International Book Fair together with Sigalit Gelfand, Director of the Israeli Institute for Hebrew Literature. The visit took place as part of a collaboration between the Institute and the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi.

The fair, which attracts around two million visitors each year, drew a large and engaged audience, who attended the events and purchased books.

During the fair, Shehori and Argaman held a series of events and workshops with readers centered on their books, as well as discussions on the ways in which literature moves across cultures, languages, and different contexts. In addition, they met with publishers and key figures in the local literary scene.

These encounters generated significant interest and led to fruitful dialogues, which may develop into future collaborations and translations of Hebrew literature into English and Hindi in the near future.

Special thanks to Avital Barak, Israel’s Cultural Attaché in New Delhi, for her dedicated and professional support, for helping build the foundations for these collaborations, and for her close attention to every detail along the way.
