Infrastructure

A masterful literary examination of the Israeli elite before October 7th.

At the center of Kinneret Rosenbloom’s novel stands “Atlantis”—a symbol of Israeli success: a family business built from the ground up, that grew from a small citrus grove into a powerhouse of infrastructure and real estate. As the novel begins, the family faces a crisis: Yehuda, the all-powerful CEO, suffers a stroke and must pass the reins to his eldest son, Arik. But will the weakened father relinquish control so easily?
The family’s problems don’t end there. Their flagship project involves the implementation of a national initiative to build an advanced barrier, designed to halt the tunnel threat from the Gaza Strip and secure the surrounding villages. On one disastrous Friday, in an eerie foreshadowing of the events of October 2023, the family’s sheltered world turns upside down, forcing them to confront reality head-on.
Infrastructure offers a biting, unprecedented look at the Israeli elite, exposing its blind spots and the price they exact. In the book’s afterword, written after the massacre of October 7th, the author writes: “After the curtain fell and the stage was dismantled, reality arrived on the scene, adding its own epilogue, far more terrible than anything I could have imagined.”
