Yossi Alphi

יוסי אלפי

Yossi Alphi was born in Basra, Iraq, in 1945 and immigrated to Israel in 1949. He is a poet, children`s author, dramatist and editor, as well as a radio and TV presenter. A graduate of RADA in London, Alphi has taught in the theater departments of several Israeli universities. He founded Israeli community theater and established a special program for it at Tel Aviv University where he teaches. In addition, he established and runs the Givatayim Theater, holds workshops on community theater in Israel and abroad, appears as a storyteller and is director of the Israel Festival of Storytellers. Alphi has published a number of children’s books, several books of poetry and other works of fiction and drama. He was awarded the Ramat Gan Prize for Lifetime Achievement in 2014.
