Cat, Sailor, Clown
The lonely sailor has lost his home, friends and future wife to his love for the sea. He hopes the helpless kitten that lands on his ship will be a companion, not knowing that cats hate the sea. The cat learns quickly that water is cold and unpleasant. But the sailor loves him and indulges his every whim. Just as the cat decides to leave the ship for good, a has-been clown spots a young cat up on the mast of a docking ship, flying through the air from sheer joy at the sight of dry land. The clown knows he has found his meal ticket. If he can only train the cat to perform tricks on command, people will flock to see the great cat-and-clown team. The real hero here is the sailor, who will open his heart to the capricious cat over and over again.
