Batya Gur

Batya Gur (1947-2005) was born in Tel Aviv and lived in Jerusalem. She wrote detective novels and was a literary critic for the daily, Haaretz. Gur studied Hebrew literature and history at the Hebrew University and completed her MA in comparative literature. Between 1972 and 1975 she lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she taught Hebrew and Jewish studies to elementary students. Before writing her first detective novel at the age of 39, she taught literature in high school. Her book, A Saturday Morning Murder, has been televised.
