Ehud Ben-Ezer

Ehud Ben-Ezer was born to one of the founding families of Petah Tikva in 1936. His family has lived in this once small village since 1878. Ben-Ezer studied philosophy and kabbala at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and then worked as a teacher in new towns in the Negev. He describes his experiences there in his first novel, The Quarry, which was made into a film in 1990. Today, he works as a literary critic in the Hebrew press. Ben-Ezer is a prolific writer: he has published novels, collections of short stories, non-fiction and books for children and youth. His book for young readers, Jedda, received the prestigious Ze`ev Prize (1994), and he has received the Prime Minister`s Prize three times.
