Miki Ben-Cnaan

Miki Ben-Cnaan was born in Tel Aviv. An artist as well as a writer, she has exhibited her drawings in solo and group exhibitions, in Israel—the Tel Aviv Museum—and the U.S. Professionally, she has worked for many years as a stage and costume designer, particularly for young artists at the National Habima Theater. Ben-Cnaan has received many awards for stage design: the Acre Theater Festival Award (1984), Habima Theater’s Goldenberg Prize (2002), the Sternfeld Prize (2003), the Fringe Theater “Golden Hedgehog” Award (2007) and the Prime Minister’s Prize (2014). At present she also teaches stage and costume design at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and the Kibbutzim College of Education. In recent years Ben-Cnaan has established a start-up company to develop a medical device that she invented. The Grand Circus of Ideas is her second novel.
