Rachel Dana Fruchter

Rachel Dana Fruchter was born in 1956 in Tel Aviv, into a Sephardi family originating in Istanbul and lives in Jerusalem today. Fruchter studied literature, philosophy and theater at Tel Aviv University. She received a student scholarship from the Centre de Formation des Journalistes and holds a teaching certificate from the Kerem Institute for Teacher Training.
Fruchter worked as a news editor for Haaretz and as a copy editor for Al HaMishmar and Hadashot, where she also wrote literary and cultural pieces. She was a TV production researcher for The First Channel’s literary programs and has taught literature, philosophy and creative writing at the Hebrew University Secondary School.
Fruchter has published poems and short stories in literary magazines and in the cultural supplements of Israeli newspapers. Her first book of poetry, The Painful Beauty of the Morning (2007) was published by Carmel Publishing House. Her first novel, The Printers (2019), is a part of Keter Books’ belletristic series Hasidra LeSifrut Yafa. It has won the Winner of the special award of the Minister of Culture for debut works 2019.
