Yehoash Biber

Yehoash Biber (1937-1992) was born in Safed and grew up on a kibbutz where his parents belonged to a workers’ group. His father was in charge of the arsenal for his area, and was involved in illegal immigration as well as in the struggle for Israel`s independence. Biber depicted these heroic times in his books, which he began publishing in the early 1960s.
Biber majored in Jewish Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and worked as an editor in the Ministry of Education`s information service. He published 23 books for children and youth, three novels and three collections of stories. He was awarded the Ze`ev Prize in 1978.
