Yosef Sharon

Yosef Sharon was born in 1952 in Ramat Gan, and spent his childhood in Israel and Cuba. After his military service he spent a year in New York. Sharon began publishing in 1972. He studied general and Jewish philosophy at Tel Aviv University as well as French studied. He was a guest professor at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and conducted poetry and literary criticism workshops at Haifa University and at other academic institutions. In 1994, he founded and edited the magazine Rechov, which focused on literature and art.
Sharon received the Prime Minister’s Prize twice (1986; 1997) and the Bernstein Prize (2001).
