Anna and I
Anna and I is a complex love story set in Tel Aviv in the years between the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War. Daniel, a teacher, has moved from his village to Tel Aviv. Veering between reality and hallucination, he becomes increasingly disorientated. His marriage is also breaking up – both he and his wife, Anna, are looking for ways to make their lives more meaningful. Anna takes their young son to live in newly settled Beit-El in Judea, where she seeks answers through religion.
Two young people in Tel Aviv, Ayelet and Ariel, thrust themselves into Daniel’s life. The friendship instils new vitality in him, but it also precipitates a crisis which brings him closer to a breakdown. One day, momentarily out of his senses, he poisons the two friends whose presence has become unbearable because of his own ambivalence towards them.
