Danny Alone

Teenage Danny has no father. He has his grandmother and grandfather and Dalya, his over-protective single mother who refuses to answer any questions about his parentage. Breaking away and finding his father fuse into a single goal as Danny persuades his mother to enroll him in a London language school for the summer. A London postmark on Dalya’s secret letters and the way his mother’s face closes up when he mentions the city have convinced Danny that his father lives in London.

Danny does not find what he is looking for, but he stumbles into selfhood. At the same time, his wish is almost granted when he forges a strong friendship with the older Mikey, the school’s house-father, a warm man who says he would love to have a son like Danny.
