The King Went to Sleep

This particular king is tired of his weighty responsibility and takes a vacation. After having a word with his wife, he brushes his teeth and goes to bed with the weekend papers, locking the door behind him. It`s supposed to be a short break, but his leave of absence goes on for two months… and more. At first the king`s subjects miss him, but then they get used to life without him and life goes on as usual until he is quite forgotten.

Having made a case for getting rid of the king, it is no surprise when nobody wants him back. His subjects like their new- found independence and find a solution for their redundant ruler: they seal off his castle.

The story ends with a few words of warning for the child who would be king: stick to it or lose your crown.
