Yoni and the Horse

After his father dies, Yoni loses interest in school and often finds himself sent out of the classroom. “I just want to know why,” he thinks while he’s waiting for the class to finish, and a big white horse comes up behind him, inviting him to join a quest through the underworld that might give him some answers.

They gallop through the Land of the Singing Hills to the Mountain of Black Ice, at the top of which is the Fortress which has Answers. No one has reached the fortress for many years and without the Stone that Closes Gaps, climbing the hill is impossible. Yoni acquires the Stone, and is joined by hundreds of grieving children, all seeking answers.

The fortress is stormed by the sheer power of the children’s rebellion against loss. The children eventually make their way home, clutching a secret that will sustain them.
