Adir Cohen

Adir Cohen was born in Rishon LeZion, Israel, in 1937, and lives now in Haifa. He studied education, literature and philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and received his PhD at New York University. He was head of Haifa University’s School of Education and of its Center for Children’s Literature, which he founded, and is now Professor Emeritus and head of the Department of Education at the Yezreel Valley College. The many books Cohen has published include novels for adults, books for youth and dozens of books on education, literature and bibliotherapy. He has also edited and adapted numerous anthologies for children. Among Cohen’s awards: the NYU Founders Award (1972), the Lamdan Prize (1974), the Ruppin Prize (1976), the Levin Kipnis Prize (1985) and the City of Bremen, Germany, Literary Award.
