Final Stop, Algiers

A thrilling spy novel, a moving personal drama and the story of a great love that takes place against the backdrop of daring operations carried out by the Mossad all over the world. Artist Miki Simhoni loses his girlfriend in a terrorist attack on the eve of his first solo exhibition in Tel Aviv. A short time later, he receives an offer to join the Mossad. A passport belonging to a young Canadian who looks like him has been found by Bedouin in the sands of the Sinai desert and Simhoni is asked to take on his identity. He is then co-opted to a Mossad squad operating in Europe and the Middle East to prevent terror attacks and put a stop to Iran’s nuclear project.

The role presents him with challenges that he could hardly have imagined before, but he is torn between loyalty to his job and identification with its goals on the one hand, and the desire to fulfil himself as an artist on the other. His predicament worsens in Canada, where he is building his cover story, because he falls in love with Niki, a beautiful girl with a Japanese father. The two try to build a life together despite the difficulties; eventually Niki also joins the Mossad, and the two work as a couple to prepare for a major operation in Algiers. But all of this time, Simhoni is worried about the mysterious fate of his Canadian double. Who is he? And how is he linked to a book of poems found in his home, that describe the end of the State of Israel? The dramatic relationship between Simhoni, the Canadian and Niki gradually intensifies before coming to a surprising end.
